WILLIAM B. ASKEW

William B. Askew, 72, of rural Hillsboro, passed away Wednesday, August 11, 1982, at the Jefferson County Hospital after a lengthy illness.

He was born July 8, 1920, at Stockport, the son of George A. and Myrtle Smith Askew. He was married on December 11, 1937 at Birmingham, to Elizabeth Bowman, who survives, as well as a son, George Askew of Stockport and a daughter, Marilyn Bradfield of Ottumwa, two grandchildren and three sisters, Mrs. Genevieve Thompson and Mrs. Marjory McLain, both of Stockport, and Mrs. Winnifred Trunzo of Berlin, New Jersey. He was preceded in death by a brother.

Mrs. Askew was a member of the Stockport United Methodist Church, a charter member of the Stockport Lions Club, Workman Lodge #634 and Chapter #544, O.E.S., both of Stockport.

Funeral services were held Saturday, August 14, 1982, at the Stockport United Methodist Church with Rev. David R. Kennedy officiating. Interment was in Spencer Cemetery with Masonic graveside rites by Workman Lodge #634 of Stockport.

Memorials to either the Stockport Methodist Church or Stockport Masonic Lodge may be left at the Burch Funeral Home in Birmingham.
