LESTER L. WILLIAMS

Lester L. Williams, son of Irving and Blanche Gall Williams, was born September 23, 1905 near Birmingham, and departed this life Friday, August 13, 1982, at Van Buren County Memorial Hospital in Keosauqua. at the age of 76.

ON July 24, 1928, he married Minnie Jones in Fairfield. She survives. Also surviving are one son, Rex of Birmingham; three daughters, Donna Johnson of Ottumwa, Joyce Lenz of Spencer, and Barbara Anderson of Birmingham; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Arthur of Birmingham and Robert of Keosauqua; six sisters, Lucille Doughty of Agency, Marjory Gould of Richmond, Faye Dooley of Raymore, Missouri, Beryl Kerr of Douds, Beulah Philips of Mt. Sterling and Marie Kurka of Ottumwa; other relatives and friends.

Lester was a farmer, raising purebred Angus cattle in the Birmingham community. He also operated a cream route out of the former Farmers Cooperative Creamery of Keosauqua for a number of years. He was a member of the Birmingham United Methodist Church and a life member of the American Angus Association.

Funeral services were held Monday, August 16, 1982, at 11:30 a.m. at the Birmingham United Methodist Church with Rev. David Kennedy officiating. Interment was in Maple Hill Cemetery at Birmingham. Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua was in charge of arrangements. A memorial was established for Van Buren County Memorial Hospital.
