VERLE A. ALLEN

Verle A. Allen, 65, of 2108 Ave. B., Ft. Madison, died at 2:15 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 15, at Ft. Madison Community hospital. He had been ill for eight years.

He was born July 7, 1915, at Mt. Sterling to Arthur and B. Virgie Thompson Allen. He married Ruth Eddy Dec. 31, 1960, at Washington.

He lived at Ft. Madison for 18 years and was an army veteran and member of the American Legion. He lived several years at Bonaparte where he was employed at the Glove Factory.

Surviving: the wife; five sons, Jerry and David, both of Phoenix, Ariz; Randy, in the Army at Stuttgart, Germany, Mark, Las Vegas, Nev. Keith, at home; three daughters, Mrs. Karen Murphy, Hoffman Estates, Ill., Mrs. Debbie Leisenring, Ft. Madison; and Terri Henson, Jacksonville, Ill.; five grandchildren and one step-grandchild; a brother, Arthur, Cedar Rapids.

Graveside rites: 11 a.m. Saturday, Soldier's Circle, Oakland Cemetery, the Rev. Wilbert Trusheim. The King-Link Funeral Home was in charge of services.
