VERA L. COX

Vera Louise Cox, daughter of Oliver T. and Sarah Matheson Wolf, was born May 9, 1904 on a farm four miles southwest of Keosauqua and passed away Monday, October 5, 1981 at Van Buren Good Samaritan Center at the age of 77.

She graduated from Keosauqua High School in 1922 and worked in Peters Store.

On October 24, 1925, she married Hershel E. Cox at Bloomfield. To this union were born two children, Margaret Louise who died at birth and Evelyn Winona.

Remaining to cherish her memory are her husband and daughter Evelyn of Keosauqua, other relatives and many friends.

Vera became a member of the United Methodist Church April 13, 1923.

She lived her entire life in and near Keosauqua and in 1938 started working in Priebe's Store, which thirteen years later was sold to Grahams. On her retirement in 1976 she had completed 38 years of service in the same store. It was her privilege to assist three generations in some families in clothing themselves and their children.

When her daily work was done, home, family and friends were most important to her and she was devoted to her husband, daughter and friends, by whom she will be greatly missed.

On February 22, 1980 she joined her husband "Pete" and shared his room at the Good Samaritan Center.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 7, 1981 at 10:30 A.M. at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua with Rev. Louise Knupp officiating. Interment was in Fellows Cemetery. A memorial was established for the Good Samaritan Center.
