WILLA M. COLE

Willa Mae Cole, daughter of Benjamin and Minnie McGaffey Cook, was born January 6, 1905 in Van Buren County and departed this life Wednesday June 10, 1981 at West Point, Iowa at the age of 76.

On May 1, 1920, she married Clyde Cole at Keosauqua. They farmed near Mt. Sterling for many years. Mr. Cole preceded her in death in 1956. She was also preceded by one son, Benny; one daughter Lucy, one sister Madeline Pool, two brothers Daniel and David, and two grandchildren.

Remaining to cherish her memory are four daughters, Mrs. Very Link of West Point, Mrs. Georgia Hoffman of Ft. Madison, Mrs. Joan Lunsford of Downing, Missouri and Mrs. Minnie Thomas of Hopkinsville, Kentucky; six sons, Cecil and Gene of Montrose, Iowa, James of Keosauqua, Dale of Mt. Pleasant and Sandy of Dallas City, Illinois. One Sister, Mrs. Mayme Poling of Cantril; one brother John Cook of Denver, Colorado, 28 grandchildren, 12 great-great grandchildren, other relatives and friends. She was a long time member of the American Legion Auxiliary Beer-Barker Post #113 Keosauqua, Iowa. She will be remembered as a devoted wife and Mother, a good neighbor and friend.

Funeral services were held Friday, June 12, 1981 at two o'clock p.m. at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with Rev. Louise Knupp officiating. Pallbearers were grandsons, interment was in Pittsburg Cemetery. Memorials were established for the heart fund.
