AUGUST H. OSING

August Henry Osing, son of Richard and Wilhelmina Fangmeyer Osing was born October 7, 1898 in Havana, Illinois and departed this life the afternoon of Friday, January 31, 1986 at Bloomfield Care Center, Bloomfield, Iowa at the age of 87.

On October 18, 1922 he married Marie Pflanz in Ottumwa. They spent their active life farming in southern Iowa and northern Missouri, and had lived the past several years in Milton, until entering the care center.

Surviving are his wife, Marie; a son, Charles of Ottumwa; two daughters, Maxine Thomas of Milton and Madeline Craff of Peosota, Iowa; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild. Also surviving are two brothers, Julius of St. Louis, Missouri and Louis, Cherry Valley, California, a sister, Mildred Grosvenor of Coralville, nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents, two sisters, Clara Glattfelder and Wilhelmina Osing and brothers Richard, Carl, Bill, John, George and Rudolph Osing.

Funeral services were held Monday, February 3, 1986 at 1 p.m. in the Milton Christian Church with Rev. Kenneth Campbell and Rec. Ed Pool officiating. Interment was in Sunnyside Cemetery, Milton. A memorial was established for the Bloomfield Care Center Activity Fund. Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua, was in charge of arrangements.
