BLANCHE V. NORTON
Blanche V. Norton, 97, of Halcyon House, Washington, Iowa died Saturday, January 10, 1981 at Washington County Hospital. She had been in poor health since last October.
She was born may 7, 1993 at Victor, Iowa to William Gwinn and Virginia Price. She was married January 14, 1903 at Victor, Iowa to William J. Norton. He preceded her in death in 1957.
She had lived in Washington since 1957, was a member of United Methodist Women and Gold Age Club, and United Methodist Church.
She taught school until her marriage, managed the Washington Co. Home in early thirties and later farmed in Van Buren County until her husbands death.
She is survived by six grandchildren, Mrs. Cletus (Virginia) Kaska, W. Liberty, Mrs. Jack (Sharon) Logan, Marshall, Wisc., Allen Griggs, Muscatine, Iowa; Mrs. Ron (Phyllis) McCullough, Jewett City, Conn. and Wayne Norton of Milton, Iowa, 18 grandchildren and three great, great grandchildren.
She also preceded in death by her parents, a son, Milton Norton and a daughter, Mrs. Ruth Griggs.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, January 14, 1981 at Jones Funeral Home in Washington, Iowa with Dr. J. Roland Crandall and Rev. Jerry Caughron, officiating. Graveside services were held at Milton Sunnyside Cemetery at 2 P.M.
A memorial was established for Gideon International.
