Edith Carlson Murphy

Edith Carlson Murphy, daughter of Victor F. and Anna Johnson Carlson, was born Nov. 17, 1907 at Cambridge, Ill. and died March 12, 1968 at Bloomfield Silver Haven.

In 1914 she came with her parents to the Pulaski and Milton area. She graduated from Milton High School in 1925 and taught in country schools south of Milton for seven years.

On Dec. 25, 1931, she married Dale Murphy. They were the parents of three children.

Since their marriage, they had lived and farmed in the Milton and Pulaski communities. Only recently had they retired from the farm and purchased a home in Pulaski.

She was a member of the Milton Methodist Church. She was recognized by the WSCS with a special membership and taught Sunday school for several years.

Survivors include her widower, Dale; two daughters, Mrs. Darlene Augspurger of Bloomfield and Mrs. Diane Vigdahl of Evansville, Ind.; two brothers, Hilmer Carlson of Memphis, Mo. and Clifford Carlson of Bloomfield; a sister, Mrs. Irene Williams of Des Moines; and two grandchilden.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Charles, and a sister and a brother.
