MULLINIX, COSSELL, NEWLAND, CRUIKSHANK, WILSON, CLOUGH

Ethel Mullinix

Ethel Mullinix, daughter of Wm. Cossel and Martha Newland Cossel, was born in Davis County, Iowa, August 25, 1902, and passed away at the Blessing Hospital, Quincy, Illinois, March 8, 1986, at 1:00 a.m.

She accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age, and was united with the Barker United Brethren Church.

February 8, 1919, in the home of her parents she was united in marriage to Morris Mullinix, Rev. Roy Purvis reading their marriage vows. To this union two children were born, Floyd LaVerne and Helen Maxine.

They established a home on a farm near Troy, Iowa. They moved from their first home, to Stile, Iowa, and two years later moved to the Mullinix farm home, where they lived until 1936, when they moved to Memphis to make their home.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Morris, February 20, 1974; also by her father and mother; four brothers, Ross, Lee, George and Alpha Cossel; two sisters, Corda Wilson Cruikshank and Edith Wilson.

She is survived by her son, LaVerne, and daughter-in-law, Marguerite, of Sacramento, California; her daughter, Helen, and son-in-law, M.B. Clough, of Columbia, Missouri; four grandsons, Larry Mullinix, and wife Sue, of Sebastopal, California, Jerry Mullinix, and wife, Joan, of Fredericksburg, Virginia, Richard Clough and wife, Orrilla, of Olathe, Kansas, and Robert Clough, and wife, Lisa, of Berea, Ohio; nine great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held in Payne-Gerth Chapel, Memphis, Missouri, Tuesday, March 11, 1986, at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Kenneth Campbell officiated. Burial was in the Memphis Cemetery. Music was provided by Mrs. Ann Luther and Kenneth Campbell. Body bearers were Edwin Cossel, Kinney Cossel, Cecil Cossel, Melvin Wilson, Raymond Mullinix, and Hobert Gooden. Arrangements were by Payne-Gerth Funeral Home, Memphis, Missouri.
