Raymond Frederick Murphy

Raymond Frederick Murphy, son of Charlie and Carrie Cox Murphy was born August 9, 1905, in Van Buren County, Iowa, and died December 22, 1973, at the Bloomfield Manor in Bloomfield, Iowa, at the age of 68 years. He had been in failing health for a few years. A Davis County resident for the past four years, he previously lived in Des Moines, Iowa, where he was a painter and an interior decorator. Due to injuries he retired from that work.

February 29, 1932, he was united in marriage to Mabel Ancell at Ottumwa, Iowa. To this union were born three children.

He was affiliated with the Pualski United Methodist Church. He found faith in Christ when a young man. He will ever be remembered by a host of friends, always willing to help when needed.

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Joan Griffith of Altoona; one son, Jerry of Des Moines, Iowa, seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and two brothers, Dale of Pulaski and Leo of Keokuk and one sister, Mrs. Clarissia Carlson of Bloomfield, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son and two brothers.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, December 26, 1973, at the Wagler Funeral Home, Bloomfield, Iowa, conducted by the Rev. J.E. McClellan. Burial was in the Pulaski Cemetery, Pulaski, Iowa.
