Herbert Grant

Herbert Grant, 77, 706 W. Old Main St., Milton, died March 2, 1993, at his home.

He was born April 2, 1915, in Donnellson to William L. and Etna G. Heading Grant. He married Helen Bell on April 20, 1946, in Fort Madison. She died Nov. 17, 1992.

He graduated from Donnellson High School and worked for Bendex Corp. making gauges. He returned to school and became a certified watchmaker and engraver, doing work for Harry Truman and Jimmy Carter. He retired and sold his store in Canton, Mo., in 1981 and moved to Milton. He was a former member of Grandview Lodge No. 618 A.F. & A.M. in Glenview, Mo., and was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Milton. He was a veteran of World War II and received two Bronze Stars for Tunisian, Naples-Foggia Campaigns.

He is survived by a daughter, Judi Baker of Glenwood, Ga.; two granddaughters; and a great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services were held March 5, 1993 at the Grace United Methodist Church in Milton, with the Rev. Kim Eanes officiating. Burial with military rites conducted by the Russell-Strait Post NO. 483 of American Legion in Milton were at the Sunnyside Cemetery in Milton.

Memorials may be made to his church.

Priester Funeral Chapel in Milton was in charge of the arrangements.
