DALE JENKINS HAGLER

Dale Jenkins Hagler, age 55 years, 7 months and 26 days passed away quite unexpectedly in his home at Milton on Saturday, January 14, 1978 about 2:15 A.M.

He was born on June 19, 1922 to Glen and Alta Jenkins Hagler near Milton, Iowa.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Milton.

Dale entered the united States Army January 9, 1943 and served as Sergeant 105 in the Infantry Regiment in the Western and Asiatic Pacific. He was a rifle sharp shooter and was presented with the following citations: Good Conduct, Purple Heart and Bronze Arrowhead. He received and honorable discharge on December 8, 1945.

On June 1, 1947 he was united in marriage to Dorothy Watts in her home here in Milton. To this union was born two daughters, Sheryl and Cynthia and one son, Richard.

He spent most of his life as a farmer and the past eight has been employed as a Van Buren County Maintenance Operator.

Dale was preceeded in death by both of his parents and two brothers, John and Joe.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy, two daughters, Sheryl Meade of Mt. Vernon, Iowa and Cynthia Hershey of Denver, Colorado; one son, Richard of Oskaloosa, Iowa; five grandchildren; one sister, Marcella Randolph, of Milton; three nieces and one nephew.

Dale was a very devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother. he will be greatly missed by his family, many friends, co-workers and neighbors.

Funeral services were held in the Milton United Methodist Church on Monday, January 16, 1978 with the Reverends LaMonte and Helen Brown of Douds officiating.

The American Flag was presented to his wife, Dorothy by the American Legion Russell-Strait Post No. 483. Flag holders were Bill Strait and Paul Davis.

Burial was in Sunnyslope Cemetery of Milton.

The Wellborn Funeral Home of Milton, Iowa was in charge of arrangements.
