Gordy

Rites were Sunday at the Wagler funeral home here for J.C. (Cleve) Gordy, 79, who died Friday morning at the Sunnyslope Sanatorium in Ottumwa. He had been a patient there three weeks.

The Rev. Virgil Bopp of the First Baptist church conducted the services and burial was in the Barker cemetery, northeast of Lancaster, Mo.

Mr. Gordy was a retired farmer. He was a resident of Bloomfield the past 31 years, farming in the southern part of Davis county before that. He was affiliated with the EUB Barker church in Scotland county, Missouri.

In 1907 he married Dora Bradbury in Bloomfield. Among the survivors are his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Violet Wilcoxson, Mrs. Dorothy Dixon and Mrs. Mary Doll, all of Bloomfield; three sons, Lee of Denver, Colo.; Dale of Yarmouth, and Eugene of Chicago, Ill.; and two brothers, Eli of Bloomfield and Ira of Moberly, Mo.

Preceding him in death were a son, two sisters and one brother.

Mr. Gordy was the son of John and Minerva Ann Gordy and he was born May 17, 1881 in Scotland Co., Mo.
