Jessie Gordy

Jessie Lee Gordy of Canon City, Colo., died June 7, 1990.

He was born Oct. 8, 1913, in Van Buren County to Jessie Cleveland Gordy and Dara Lee Bradbury Gordy. He married LaVelle Turpin July 21, 1933, in Memphis, Mo.

A resident of Colorado for several years, he was a pipe fitter and had worked on the Alaskan pipeline.

He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Kay, at home; a step-daughter, Beverly Tolander of Washington, Iowa; five grandchildren; several stepgrandchildren and great-grandchildren; three sisters, Violet Willcoxson, Mary Doll and Dorothy Dixon, all of Bloomfield; and a brother, Dale, of Yarmouth, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, his parents and two brothers, Forrest and Eugene.

Services were held June 12 at the Christian Church in Canon City. Masonic services were held. Burial was in Masonic Gardens Mountain Vale Memorial Gardens.
