ELIZABETH GRIM

Elizabeth Mae Brown was born April 2, 1895 in Mercer County, Illinois. She was the daughter of William Goodwin and Elizabeth Ann Crabtree Brown. She departed this life May 13, 1974 at the Davis County Hospital at the age of 79 years, 1 month and 11 days.

She moved with her family to Davis County, Iowa at the age of six years and was educated in the schools of that county, the Southern Iowa Teacher's College at Cedar Falls. She taught in the Rural schools of Davis County.

On March 29, 1916 she was united in marriage to Albert Glen Grim of Bloomfield. To this union seven children were born, Jane Elizabeth, Mary Hope, Margaret Grace, Albert Eugene, Anna Ruth, Esther Lois and Donald Wayne.

Elizabeth and Albert farmed their entire married life, first in Davis and later in Van Buren County until their retirement in 1965 when they moved to their present home in Milton.

Elizabeth united early in life with the Wesley Chapel Methodist Church, later moving her membership to Milton. She has taught Sunday School since the age of 12 and at the time of her death was still in charge of a class.

She was a Charter member of the Women's Society of Christian Service and served in the Local society, the District and the Conference as an officer.

She was a devoted wife and mother as well as a good neighbor friend to all. She had many interests among which were painting, gardening, reading and flowers.

She is survived by her husband, Albert; 2 sons, Eugene and Donald; 5 daughters: Jane White; Hope Kinsinger; Grace Whirrett; Ann Cone and Esther Muntz; 21 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are 2 sisters, Fannie Tuning of Santa Barbara, Calif. and Grace Hankammer of Bloomfield, Iowa; 2 brothers, Roy Brown of Phoenix, Ariz. and Ed Case of Rock Island, Ill.

She was preceded in death by both parents, 3 sisters, 3 brothers, 1 grandson and 1 son-in-law, Vernon White.

Funeral services were held Thursday, May 16 at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Milton with Rev. Dale Church officiating. Burial was in Milton Sunnyside Cemetery. Wellborn Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
