George Phillip Greene

George Phillip Greene, route 2, Moulton, died at 10:12 Dec. 17 in Davis County Hospital. He was 73 years of age.

He was born in Howell County, Missouri on Feb. 26, 1907 to Stanley and Jennie Gosselink Greene. George was a retired farmer and retired custodian of West Elementary School in Bloomfield, where he had worked for 13 years. Because of his fondness of children he especially enjoyed this work. During his lifetime he had been a railroad employee; he had worked about 2 years at the Bettendorf shops. He had also worked at the building trades.

He was united in marriage with Ruth Barnett October 21, 1933 in Centerville. There were one son and 2 daughters born to their marriage. Ruth passed away a little more than 2 years ago.

He had been a resident of Davis County for 63 years and was a member of West Grove United Methodist Church.

In addition to is wife he was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, William and sister Sarah.

He is survived by one son, Jerry of rural Moulton; daughters Susan McMillin also of rural Moulton, and Beth Sullivan of rural Bloomfield; sons-in-law, Russell McMillin and Keith Sullivan; two brothers, Clarence of Unionville and A.B. of Bloomfield; grandchildren, Sandra and Phillip McMillin and Lori, Frank and Sam Sullivan; nephews, nieces and many friends and neighbors.

Services were held at 2:00 P.M. December 20th at Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with the Rev. Vern Elder officiating. Burial was in West Grove Cemetary.

A memorial has been established to the West Grove United Methodist Church.
