Sophia M. Cecil

Sophia M. Cecil, daughter of John and Ada Bennett Chaney, was born Aug. 26, 1902 near Bonaparte and died the afternoon of Tuesday, Aug. 7, 1984 at Van Buren County Memorial Hospital in Keosauqua at the age of 81.

On Jan. 25, 1922, she married Francis Earl Cecil in Keosauqua. He preceded her in death in 1976.

Remaining are a daughter Marjorie Keller and her husband, Harold, of Fairfield, a sister, Reathel Carter, Keosauqua, other relatives and friends.

Most of her married life was spent in Milton where she was a clerk in several retail stores. In the fall of 1981 she moved to Country Lanes Apartments in Keosauqua.

Mrs. Cecil was a member of the Milton United Methodist Church, Royal Neighbors, and Pythian Sisters.

Funeral services were held Friday, Aug. 10, 1984 at 10 a.m. at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua, with Rev. Marilyn Burtler officiating. Interment was in Sunnyside Cemetery, Milton. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
