CARR, DAVIS, MCBRIDE, BURROWS, HARMAN, BRIGGS, DILLINGER

THOMAS J. CARR

Thomas J. Carr, youngest son of Jonathan and Margaret Carr, was born May 1, 1842, in Franklin county, Ohio, and died at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J.S. Davis, at his farm south of Milton, May 2, 1917. He moved with his widowed mother and her family from near Columbus, Ohio, in the year of 1853, lived on a farm north of Milton until the spring of 1864, then went to Colorado and in two years came back to Iowa. He was married Dec. 24, 1868, to Miss Catherine McBride. His wife died in March, 1873, leaving the husband and one son, J.W. Carr, now of Milton, to mourn their loss. Sept. 10, 1874, he was again married to Miss Mary A. Burrows, who died July 6, 1893. To them four sons were born: G.F., of Hamilton, Ill.; T.J., of Richmond, Va.; W.M. of Malcolm, Iowa; one dying in infancy; two sisters, Mrs. Hiram Harman of Milton; Mrs. E.R. Briggs, of Fulton, Calif.; one brother, T.W. Carr, of San Miguel, Calif., who with his four sons, and three grandchildren, Mrs. Katie Dillinger, now living in Wyoming, and Warren and Glen Carr of Milton, are left to mourn their loss.

Funeral services were held at the home of the deceased, Friday afternoon, May 4, at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. B.G. Hankins, and interment was in Sunnyside cemetery.
