MARY CARPENTER

Mary Naomi Atkins Carpenter, 93, of Victoria, Texas, and formerly of Milton, died Nov. 18, 1994, in Victoria.

She was born Aug. 1, 1901, in Milton to W.E. and Clara Mae Haney Atkins. She married Albert E. Carpenter on Nov. 4, 1919, in Pulaski. He preceded her in death.

She was a homemaker and member of Milton Christian Church and gold star member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Ottumwa.

She is survived by a daughter, Clara Mae Epperly Wellborn of Victoria; two grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Albert E. Carpenter Jr. Killed in action during WW II two grandsons; and three brothers.

Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, November 21, 1994 at Sunnyside Cemetery in Milton, the Rev. Jerry Caughron officiating.

Memorials may be made to Milton Public Library or the donor's choice.

Priester Funeral Chapel in Bloomfield was in charge of arrangements.
