Melvonna "Mel" Carlson, 55, of Mount Zion died at 3:12 a.m. Nov. 19, 1994, at Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua.

She was born May 17, 1939, in Grandville, IL., to James and Alma Stinger Reynolds. She married Richard Carlson on July 28, 1972, in Rock Island, IL.

The couple moved to Mount Zion in 1981. She was a member of Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Fairfield.

She is survived by her husband; two stepchildren, Linda Fisher of Bettendorf and Robert Carlson of Davenport; three sons, Gary, Ron and Bill Carlson of Mount Zion; two daughters, Peggy Lane-Brombaugh of Mount Zion and Dena Rarick of Ainsworth; 23 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Gordon Reynolds of Keosauqua; and four sisters, Glenna Skelly, Juanita Hambrick and Audrey Diggens of Arizona and Joyce Council of Streator, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and two sisters.

The service was held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 22, 1994 at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, the Rev. Dan Schram officiating. Burial was in Forbes Cemetery near Mount Zion.

Memorials to her church may be left at the funeral home.
