John M. Stewart

John Miller Stewart, son of A.J. and Annie K. Miller Stewart, was born Dec. 21, 1898, near Cantril and departed this life Thursday, Jan. 7, 1971 at the age of 72. He moved with his parents, in 1911 to the farm in the Lebanon community south of Douds where he had resided since.

Remaining to cherish his memory are two sisters, Mrs. Ethelyn McCord who shared the family home with him and Mrs. Violet Armstrong of Ottumwa, a niece, Miss Darlene McCord, two nephews, Wayne and Raymond Stewart, other relatives and many friends.

His parents, a brother, Ted, and a sister, Mrs. Edith M. Fear, preceded him in death.

Johnny was a veteran of World War I. He will be remembered as a good citizen, friend and neighbor, who was always ready to do his part in the support of church and community efforts.

Funeral services were held Sunday, Jan. 10, 1971 at 2 P.M. at the Lebanon United Methodist Church with the Rev. Willis Grant, pastor officiating. Mrs. Beryl Beeler was the pianist. Pall bearers were Wayne Hendricks, Stuart Thomas, Ivan Thomas, Homer Avery, Kenneth Wells and Don Crowe. Interment was in Maple Grove Cemetery at Cantril. Arrangements were in charge of Pedrick Funeral Home, Douds.
