Mont C. Stagers

Mont C. Stagers, 67, died at 6 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 7 at his home in Eldon.

He was born Aug. 18, 1903, in Van Buren County, the son of Dan and Margaret Channel Stagers. An Eldon resident 45 years, he was formerly employed by the Rock Island Railroad. He operated a truck for many years, retiring in 1968. He married Mildred Black on nov. 23, 1925. She survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Alvin Lane and Mrs. Ronald Glasgow, and one son, George, all of Eldon; four grandchildren; and three brothers, Roscoe and Beryl, both of Douds and O.C. Stagers of Brighton. One sister and five brothers preceded him in death.

The service was held Saturday, Jan. 9 at 2 p.m. at the Campbell Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Earl Menning. Burial was in Eldon Cemetery.
