Mrs. George Smith

Mrs. Mary J. Smith, 67, Birmingham, died Wednesday, Jan. 6 at Van Buren County Memorial Hospital, Keosauqua, where she had been a patient five weeks.

She was born Aug. 20, 1903 at Stockport, the daughter of Darius and Atenis Jameson Sickel. She married George L. Smith, who died Nov. 24, 1962.

Surviving are one son, George H. of Albuquerque, N.M.; one daughter, Mrs. Betty REa Stortz of Fairfield; four grandchildren, and one great-grandchild; and two sisters, Mrs. Claudia Harness of Birmingham and Mrs. Cora Robinson of Milton.

She was a member of the Birmingham United Methodist Church, the W.S.C.S., and was serving on the Birmingham Library Board.

Funeral services were held at 2 P.M. Friday, Jan. 8, at Burch Funeral Home, Birmingham, conducted by the Rev. Millard Marshall. Burial was in Maple Hill Cemetery, Birmingham.
