Mrs. Gertrude Short

Mrs. Gertrude Short, 90, of Cantril, died Tuesday, Nov. 25 at 2:15 p.m. at Van Buren County Memorial Hospital in Keosauqua.

She was born May 19, 1879 in Scotland County, Mo., to James and Laura Abernathy Kisling. On Jan. 30, 1901 she married Stephen Short, who preceded her in death March 7, 1956.

Surviving are a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Dorothea Short, with whom she had been living; one granddaughter and two great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Van Short.

She was a member of the Methodist Church, American Legion Auxiliary and the W.S.C.S.

The service was held Friday, Nov. 28 at 2 p.m. at the Cantril Methodist Church with the Rev. Herbert Phillips officiating. Burial was in Maple Grove Cemetery. Wellborn Funeral Home, Milton, was in charge of arrangements.
