Mary Kingsbury

Mrs. Mary H. Kingsbury, 78, Keosauqua, widow of Cyrus Kingsbury, died at 3:30 P.M. Monday, Nov. 24, at Van Buren County Memorial Hospital, Keosauqua. She entered the hospital Monday morning, after suffering a fractured hip at the home of Mrs. Ada Warren, where she was staying overnight.

The daughter of Grandville and Mary DeHart Hanan, she was born Feb. 22, 1891, near Mt. Sterling. Her life was spent in Van Buren County, the past 15 years in Keosauqua. She graduated from Keosauqua High School in 1908 and taught in rural Van Buren County schools before her marriage on Nov. 21, 1911. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1951.

Surviving are one son, Clarence of Keosauqua, two grandsons; and one great-granddaughter.

Mrs. Kingsbury was a member of Center Chapel United Methodist Church and a charter member of Center Chapel Women's Society of Christian Service when it was organized in 1940 and when it was reorganized in 1968.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2 P.M. at Center Chapel Methodist Church with the Rev. James Ford officiating. Interment in Center Chapel Cemetery. Arrangements by Pedricks of Douds.
