Fred (Kelly) Yarnell

Fred (Kelly) Yarnell, 66, died at 10:45 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 23 at Van Buren County Memorial Hospital at Keosauqua, following an extended illness.

He had served as the bridge foreman for the Van Buren county engineer's office 40 years. Born Jan. 14, 1903, in Douds, he was the son of Frank and Etta Hoops Yarnell. On Aug. 1, 1931, he was married to Josephine Cass, at Memphis, Mo.

Survivors include his widow; one daughter, Caroline Bentzinger of Mount Sterling; three grandchildren, also of Mount Sterling; and three brothers, Claire of Santiago, Chile, Wilbur of Keosauqua, and Jay of Fort Madison.

The funeral was held Tuesday, Nov. 25 at 2 p.m. at United Methodist Church with the Rev. James Ford officiating. Burial was in Purdom Cemetery.
