Alva L. Musser, 80, Birmingham, was found dead on the floor of his home in Birmingham Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 24, after he had failed to pick up his mail at the post office for the past week.

His body was discovered by friends by friends who investigated at the request of the postmaster. Dr. R.W. Gustafson, Van Buren County medical examiner, said Musser had been dead several days.

Graveside services were at 2 P.M. Thursday, Sept. 25 in Maple Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Millard Marshall officiating, and military rites by the Haney-Brannan Post 181 at Birmingham. The Burch Funeral Home made arrangements.

Alva L. Musser was born July 23, 1889, near Birmingham, the son of Henry T. and Mary E. Knox Musser. He was a veteran of World War I and a charter member of the Birmingham Legion Club.

Musser operated an oil station along Hwy. 1 for a number of years until his retirement. His home is located along the highway at the south edge of Birmingham.

Survivors include a number of nieces and nephews.
