NANCY J. McMANIS

Mrs. Nancy J. McManis, daughter of Samuel and Alinda Meek Foster, was born on March 10, 1881 at Bonaparte Wednesday, Oct. 16, at the Ottumwa Hospital at the age of 87.

On March 6, 1904, she was married to Carl McManis at her parent's home near Cantril. They lied in the Cantril and Selma communities. Mr. McManis preceded her in death in 1948. She moved from Selma to Eldon in 1964.

Survivors are her daughter, Mrs. Faye Wells of Eldon and son, Col. Thayne McManis of San Antonio, Texas; son-in-law, Leonard Wells and daughter-in-law, Mrs. Reva McManis; four grandchildren, Ross and Carl Wells, Major James McManis and Mrs. Patricia Burner; ten great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Ford, in 1962, a brother and three sisters.

Mrs. McManis was a member of the Cantril Christian Church. She was active in the work of the church and community as long as her health permitted.

Funeral services were held Saturday, October 19 at 2 p.m. at the Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds with Rev. Earl Menning, pastor of the Eldon Christian Church officiating. Interment was in Maple Grove Cemetery at Cantril.
