ALBERT R. DELANEY

Albert R. Delaney, son of Robert T. and Nancy Ross Delaney, was born Oct. 23, 1878 in Lee County near Big Mound, Ia. In the spring of 1881, he with his parents and brother Will, came to Van Buren County near Cantril where he spent the remainder of his life.

On May 23, 1900, he was united in marriage to Ollie Knox. They immediately went to their home two miles east of Cantril, where they lived 51 years before retiring from farm work and moved to Cantril.

He received his education from the Niles and Cantril Schools.

When a boy of 14 years of age, he united with the Cantril Methodist Church and was always a faithful attendant at Sunday School and Church. He was secretary of Sunday School for many years. He also taught a Sunday School class many years. He also served as a trustee of the Official Board and regularly attended church services as long as health permitted.

His favorite Bible verse was: "I go to prepare a place for you and if I go and prepare a place for you I will come again and receive you unto myself that where I am ye may be also."

On April 6, he was stricken with a very severe heart attack from which he never recovered. He spent almost seven mon- this in Bloomfield Hospital and Silver Haven Rest HOme where he was noted for his cheery smile and sense of humor.

He was preceded in death by his father, mother, two children, a girl and a boy, both dying in infancy, and his brother, Will.

He leaves to mourn his loss, (his) wife, Ollie, a niece Lucille Delaney Simpson, three nephews, several cousins and a host of friends and neighbors.

Services were held October 17 at the Cantril Methodist Church with Rev. Herbert Phillips officiating. Interment was in Maple Grove Cemetery.
