BERNIE ROBY

Bernie Serenus Roby, 64, was born Jan. 27, 1902, on a farm east of Milton, the son of William H. and Jennie Amend Roby. He died Tuesday, Aug. 23, 1966 in the Ottumwa Hospital, Ottumwa, Iowa.

Bernie lived his entire life in the Milton Community and leaves many friends. At an early age he joined the Milton Christian Church. He was a faithful member during his entire life time and served as a deacon for many years.

Surviving him are his two sisters, Mrs. Vera Davis and Mrs. LaVon Hargrove, with whom he lived; a brother-in-law, Glen Hargrove; a nephew, Dean Davis of Naperville, Ill.; a niece, Mrs. Beverly Beeler of Milton; two great nephews and three great nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother-in-law, Earl Davis.

Bernie was in poor health much of his life but he bore it with patience. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Services were held Friday afternoon, Aug. 26 at 2 o'clock in the Christian Church with the Wellborn Funeral Home in charge. Burial was in Sunnyside Cemetery. Casket bearers were Robert Shobe, Donald Hargrove, W.L. Brown, Dale Hagler, Hubert Lunsford and Marion Roberts.
