Gayle Earl Moffett

Gayle Earl Moffett, 55, Salem, passed away suddenly at 12:30 a.m., Monday, May 2, 1966 at Memorial Hospital, Mt. Pleasant, where he had been admitted an hour earlier.

Services will be held at the Salem Congregational Church with Patrick Kelly, pastor of the church, officiating, Wednesday, May 4, 1966 at 2:00 p.m.

Interment will be in Salem East Cemetery.

He was born July 29, 1910 at Arlington, Kansas, the son of Marvin M. and Nellie McIntyre Moffett. On July 8, 1935 he was married to Virginia Ford at Bloomfield, Iowa. He was a farmer in the Salem community the past 15 years and was of the Methodist faith.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia; three sons, Mike, Merritt and Mark, all of Salem; two daughters, Beverly of Salem and Mrs. Roger (Joan) Newbold of Burlington; four brothers, Leonard Moffett of Keosauqua, Fred Moffett of New London, Mac Moffett of Birmingham, Ala., Robert Moffett of Titusville, Fla.; two sisters, Mrs. Maurice (Fern) Gwinnup of Keosauqua and Mrs. Herbert (Madeline) Smith of West Chester, Illinois.

His father and a brother preceded him in death.
