Ottumwa, Iowa, Thursday, December 15, 1977

ARNOLD J. BARKER

KEOSAUQUA - Arnold J. Barker, 69, a Keosauqua farmer and former Van Buren County supervisor, died the evening of Dec. 14 at Van Buren County Hospital.

He was born to George V. and Catherine McIntosh Barker March 4, 1908, at Mount Zion. He married Ruth Gilbert in 1931. On July 23, 1955, he married Ruth Clark.

Survivors: his wife; sons Norman and Duane of Keosauqua and Donald; eight grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; brothers Ralph of Keosauqua and John of Grinnell; sisters Edith Dodds of Bonaparte, Josephine Wells of Cantril and Martha Danielson of Fairfield.

He was a member of Keosauqua United Methodist Church, had served on Methodist district and conference boards and was a certified lay speaker. He was past president of Keosauqua Rotary Club and Keosauqua Commercial Club, was a sponsor for the Busy Box Day Care Center and a member of Country Lane Apartments board of directors.

He served two terms on the county board of supervisors.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Keosauqua United Methodist Church, the Rev. John Cornish officiating. The body will lie in state at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua until 9 a.m. Saturday. The casket will not be opened at the church. Burial: Fellows Cemetery in Keosauqua. Memorial: to his church.
