WALTER HOOTMAN

Services for Walter Hootman, 88, retired farmer and seed corn dealer who died Monday morning at the Good Samaritan Center in Keosauqua, were Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds, with Rev. Donald Strauch officiating.

The son of Henry and Laura Crawford Hootman, he was born May 16, 1887, near Douds and lived his life in the Douds community until moving to the Good Samaritan Center in 1972.

On August 26, 1922, he married Emma Zuehlke, who died in 1972. An infant daughter, two sisters and two brothers also preceded him in death.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Darlene Horn, Winterset, Mrs. Norma Dingman, Noel, Mo., Mrs. Helen Finney, Cedar Rapids; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Iva Cohenour, Ottumwa.

He was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church; Celestial Lodge No. 413, AF&AM; a charter member and past commander of John Hyson Reneker Post No. 494, American Legion, all of Douds.
