RAY C. HARTER

Ray C. Harter, Sr., 68, 1223 Seymour St., Keokuk, died at his home at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, August 31. He had been in failing health for the past year and seriously ill since April.

Born December 24, 10-6, at Glasgow, Iowa, he was the son of the late Foster and Anna Olson Harter. He was married to Katheryne Rachel Patterson in Keokuk March 19, 1924.

The Harters celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last year at the home of their daughter, Mrs. Pearl (Jean) Brown with all their children and grandchildren.

The couple moved to Johnson Street Road in Keokuk from Hamilton, Illinois, in 1932. With the exception of a few years on their farm near Glasgow, they had resided in Keokuk since that time.

Mr. Harter was employed for 30 years at Electrometals (now Foote Mineral) until his retirement December 31, 1971.

He was a member of the local union 148, IUOE.

Survivors include one son, Ray M. Harter, Keokuk; three, daughters, Mrs. Robert (Maxine) Crompton, Williams, Minnesota, Mrs. Fred ( Betty) Frohreich, Baudette, Minnesota, Mrs. pearl (Jean) Brown, Stockport; 15 grandchildren and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, September 3, at 2 p.m. in the First Christian Church at Stockport with Rev. Carl Mast officiating. Burial was in the Hickory Grove Cemetery in Stockport.
