BONAPARTE - Martha Esther Nixon, 72, died Sunday at 8:30 a.m. at Memorial Hospital at Keosauqua, after a 10-day illness.

She was born March 19, 1901, at Bonaparte, to William and Lydia Ellen Russell Mitchell. She married Rex Nixon Oct. 16, 1920, at Chariton.

Surviving are one son, Bernard, and one daughter, Mrs. Roger Stevens, both of Burlington; one brother, Russell Mitchell of Newton; two sisters, Mrs. Olga Keck of Bonaparte and Mrs. Hazel Goben of Udell; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Her husband and one brother preceded her in death.

The service will be Tuesday, 2 p.m., at the Bonaparte Baptist Church of which she was a member. The Rev. Gerald Ogden will officiate, with burial in the Bonaparte Cemetery.

The body is at the Carl Wilson Reposing Home in Bonaparte. Miller-Hofbauer Funeral Home, Farmington, is in charge of arrangements.
