George Helterbran

George Helterbran, 76, of Farmington, died at 11:45 a.m. Friday, Nov. 17, at Graham hospital, Keokuk, where he had been a patient since Nov. 11.

He was born April 4, 1896, at Hillsboro, the son of Aaron and Laura Harlan Helterbran. On December 24, 1917, he married Grace Brown at Mt. Pleasant. She survives. He was a lifelong resident of Van Buren County and was a retired farmer.

He was a member of the Assembly of God Church at Farmington and had been a township trustee of Farmington Township.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Lloyd (Alcene) Henn of Farmington and Ruth Helterbran of Keokuk, three brothers, Paul of Lockridge, Ia., Edward of Montana and Keith of Parnell, Ia., two sisters, Mrs. Jay Harlan, Stockport and Mrs. Ivan Longman of Lacon, Ill., two grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and two sisters.

Funeral service was at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 20, in the Assembly of God Church, Farmington, the Rev. Harold Shelton and Rev. Gary Walter officiated. Burial was in Greenglade cemetery in Farmington. Miller-Hofbauer Funeral Home had charge of the service.
