Lyle Murphy

Lyle Murphy, 69, Cuba, Ill., died at 5:30 a.m. Nov. 9, 1972 at his residence.

Services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12 at Hukill Funeral Chapel, the Rev. Taylor Murphy officiating. Burial was in Cuba Cemetery.

He was born in Cuba March 9, 1903, a son of Elliott and Gertrude Ackerson Murphy. He married Pearl Page in Fairfield, Iowa Dec. 19, 1922.

She survives, along with two sons, Lyle, Jr. of Canton, Ill., and Jimmie of San Antonio, Texas; two daughters, Mrs. Betty Gilpin of Centralia, Ill., and Mrs. Zeta Nelson of Peoria, Ill.; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Hugh of Bonaparte; and three sisters, Mrs. Margaret Mellen of Bonaparte, Mrs. Clarice Fritsinger of Lancaster, Calif. and Mrs. Ferne Brombaugh of Enid, Oklahoma.

Mr. Murphy was a member of the Baptist Church at Harrisburg, Iowa, and grew up in the Harrisburg and Bonaparte area.

He was a mine operator in Cuba and owned and operated Ackerman Pool Hall in Cuba.
