Thomas Pollock

Thomas Pollock, son of John Thomas and Edna McClain Pollock, was born Dec. 17, 1892, near Libertyville and departed this life Wednesday, Oct. 25, 1972, at Van Buren County Memorial Hospital in Keosauqua at the age of 79.

He spent most of his working years in Ottumwa as an engineer for Halls Candy Co. and the Ottumwa Ice Co. Three years were spent overseas during World War II, working or Douglas Aircraft Co. He later lived in Bloomfield, and had resided in Keosauqua since March 1972.

His parents, five brothers and a sister preceded him in death.

Remaining to cherish his memory are his widow, Wilma, to whom he was married Nov. 5, 1935; two daughters by a previous marriage, Mrs. Roy (Kathryn) Wichhart of rural Keosauqua and Mrs. Gerald (Doris) Maring of Nashua, Iowa; eight grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Vern Culbertson of Waterloo, Mrs. Walter Knudson of Red Lodge, Mont. and Miss Josephine Pollock of Madison, Wisc.; a number of nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held Friday, Oct. 27 at 2 p.m. at the Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds with the Rev. James M. Ford of the Keosauqua United Methodist Church officiating. Mrs. Clyde Loomis was the organist. Pallbearers were Davis Pollock, Joe Huffman, Tom Maring, Claude Ewald, Larry Bartholomew and Don Wichhart. Interment was in the Fell Cemetery near Libertyville.
