Mrs. Richard Hesseltine

Mrs. Betty Hesseltine, 47, of Birmingham, was dead on arrival at Jefferson County Hospital, Sunday, Dec. 19, about 11:30 p.m.

Mrs. Hessetine was stricken with an apparent heart attack a short time earlier.

She was born Dec. 1, 1923, at Fairfield, daughter of Harry and Lulu Stine Smith. On Sept. 15, 1940, she married Richard O. Hesseltine. She worked at the Jefferson County Hospital.

She is survived by her husband; four sons, Phil of Cedar Rapids, Allan of Aurora, Colo., and Carl and Larry, both of Birmingham; her mother, Mrs. Lulu Smith of Fairfield; one grandchild; and a sister, Mildred Sauffer of Milwaukee, Wis. Her father preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held at the Brighton Methodist Church, Wednesday, Dec. 22 at 2 p.m. The Rev. Harry Lees Jr. officiated. Burial was in Hillcrest Cemetery at Brighton.
