Louie R. Phillips

ELDON - Louie R. Phillips, 62, died at Ottumwa Hospital at 4:45 a.m. today. He had been a patient for two weeks.

He was born Feb. 16, 1909, in Missouri, son of Joseph and Catherine Barnett Phillips. He lived in the Eldon Community more than 30 years and was employed as a road maintainer for Wapello County 25 years. He was a member of the Open Bible Church. His marriage to Mabel Hyatt took place May 20, 1931. She survives.

Also surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Joe Weller and Mrs. Larry Fitzwater, both of Eldon, and Mrs. Doyle Pohren of Davenport; three sons, Donald of Orion, Ill., and Gary and Ronald, both of Eldon; 18 grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Lillie Fritz Jopson of Washington state and Mrs. Leone Terry of Fresno, Calif.; and one brother, Adolph Phillips of Des Moines.

Funeral will be Saturday, 2 p.m. at Campbell Funeral Home in Eldon with the Rev. Earl Menning officiating. Burial in the Eldon Cemetery.
