Laurence R. Stott

Laurence Raymond Stott, son of John and Elsa Dell Barnett Stott, was born June 19, 1908, near Azen, Mo. and died at his home in Memphis, Mo. on Friday, November 26, 1971

He joined the Prairie View Methodist Church at an early age, and at the time of his death, he was a member of the Memphis United Methodist Church.

He was united in marriage on Sept. 1, 1927, to Opal Bell Eichelburger at the Prairie View Methodist Church. To this union was born three sons and one daughter: Lavern, Donald, Leland, and Neva.

His primary occupation was farming. He was Past Master of the Memphis Lodge No. 16, A.F. and A.M.; and member of the Kirksville Council NO. 44, R. and S.M. and the Carter Chapter No. 107, Order of the Eastern Star.

He was preceded in death by his mother.

Those left to mourn his passing are his father, John Stott of Cantril, Iowa; his wife, Opal, of the home; his children: Lavern of Memphis, Donald and Leland of Cantril, Iowa, and Neva Roberts of the home; three daughters-in-law; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three sisters: Mrs. Elva Rosenburger of La Cresenta, Calif., Mrs. Vern (Freda) Robinson, Keosauqua, Iowa, and Mrs. Robert (Irene) Ferguson of Memphis, Mo.; and one brother, Paul Stott of Venice, California.

He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and a loyal worker for his church.

Services were held at the Methodist Church in Memphis, Mo. on Sunday Nov. 28 at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Cleo Kottwitz and Rev. Kenneth Campbell officiating. Burial was in the Prairie View Cemetery.
