Mrs. Ruth A. Smith

Mrs. Ruth A. Smith, daughter of Irvin and Anna Manbeck Nedrow, was born December 15, 1902, near Douds, and departed this life Thursday, November 25, 1971, at Van Buren County Memorial Hospital in Keosauqua at the age of 68. On January 18, 1922, she was married to Kermit A. Smith, who preceded her in death in 1961.

Remaining to cherish her memory are a daughter, Mrs. Bernice Warner, of Norfolk, New York, two sons, Keith A. and Murl Smith, both of Douds, son-in-law Merrill Warner and daughters-in-law Marilyn Rose and Betty Smith, six grandchildren, two great granddaughters, a sister, Mrs. Kenneth Knecht and a brother Lehr Nedrow, both of Douds, other relatives and many friends.

Most of her life was spent in the Douds community.

She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, and will be remembered as a devoted mother and grandmother who dedicated her life to the practice of those ideals in which she believed.

Funeral services were held Saturday, November 27, 1971, at 2 p.m. at the Zion Bible Church, with the Rev. Glenn Fuller officiating. Vocalists were Jon Finney, Raymond Finney, Merlin Harryman, accompanied by Mrs. Charley Kunzman. Pall bearers were Dennis Besick, Raymond Johnson, Charles Kisling, Duane Gates, Rodney Robinson, and John W. Robinson. Interment was in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Arrangements were in charge of Pedrick Funeral Home.
