EDDYVILLE - Christian Verploeg(h), 84, died Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Tower Park Nursing Home in Oskaloosa where he had been a patient for about three months. He spent his life farming in this area and was a member of the First Reformed Church of Eddyville.

He was born Aug. 7, 1887, at Tyl, Netherlands, the son of Christian and Ardie Verploegh. He came to this country at the age of 19.

He was married to Gertrude Cornelissen on Feb. 17, 1921. She survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Christiana Mich of Oskaloosa, and Mrs. Emma Lehman of Eddyville; four sons, John and Wilbur of Oskaloosa, and Henry of San Francisco, Calif., and Christian Jr. of Eddyville; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandson. He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.

Service will be Saturdy at 1 p.m. at the First Reformed Church in Eddyville with the Rev. Murray Steinkamp officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery in Eddyville.

The Eddyville Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
