Robert Crist

DOUDS - Robert B. Crist, 62, a rural Selma farmer, died at 9:15 p.m. Friday shortly after entering Van Buren County Memorial Hospital at Keosauqua.

He had been suffering from a cold but had worked Friday and death was unexpected. He was the son of Edger B. and Martha Harness Crist. He was born Sept. 29, 1908 at Stuart, Iowa.

He lived principally in western Iowa until moving to the Douds-Selma community in 1936. In 1940 he was married to LaVerne dick, who preceded him in death in 1969. A brother and a granddaughter also preceded him in death.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Linda Bullock of Bellvue, Neb. and three sons, Richard Dick of Ft. Madison, James Dick of Douds, and Robert W. Crist at home; four grandchildren, five brothers, George of Letts, Melvin of Douds, Edger of St. Louis, Mo., Jaye of Silver City, and Maurice of Oskaloosa; and four sisters, Mrs. Edna Fowler of Sutherland, Neb., Mrs. May Ludolph of Pierz, Minn., Mrs. Martha Rovn of Ringsted, and Mrs. Alice Cieslak of Des Plaines, Ill.

The service will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Crist United Methodist Church in Douds with the Rev. Gerald Caughron pastor officiating. The casket will be taken to the church at 11 a.m. Monday and will be closed at the beginning of the service. Burial will be in the Mt. Moriah Cemetery near Douds. The Pedrick Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
