Mrs. John Nye

Funeral services for Mrs. Lois A. Nye, 55, of Batavia were held Friday at the Batavia United Methodist Church, with Dr. J. Roland Crandall officiating. Burial was in the Agency Cemetery.

Mrs. Nye was the wife of the Rev. John Nye, who served as Methodist minister in Keosauqua for several years.

She died at 12:10 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 7, at Ottumwa Hospital after a lengthy illness.

She was born Jan. 23, 1916, in Thawville, Ill., the daughter of George and Alice Nordstrom West. She married the Rev. Mr. Nye Sept. 2, 1940. He survives.

Other survivors are three daughters, Mrs. James Morris of Afton, Mrs. William Lass of Des Moines and Mrs. Robert Beckerbauer of Ankeny; five grandchildren; two sisters and two brothers.

Memorials have been established payable to the Batavia and Eldon United Methodist churches.
