Harold L. Haynes

DOUDS - Harold L. Haynes, 60, of rural Birmingham, died at 5 p.m. Sunday at Veterans Hospital in Iowa City where he had been since Aug. 3. He had been ill since December.

The son of Oscar and Marie Quakenbush Haynes, he was born July 27, 1911, at Fairfield. Most of his life was spent in Van Buren County. He was employed at Fairfield Aluminum Co., and was a member of Coon Hunters Association.

Survivors include his widow, the former Madeline Cocherell; nine sons, Vernon of St. Francis, Kan., Roscoe and Lawrence of Mount Pleasant, Emmett of Stephenville, Tex., Stanley of Washington, Iowa, Chester of Montrose, and Dennis, Roger and Kelly, all at home; wo daughters, Mrs. Evelyn Eliot of Bonaparte, and Lucy at Home; two step-daughters, Mrs. Karlene Cole of Douds, and Mrs. Margo Boughner of West Covina, Calif., and his mother, Mrs. Oscar Haynes, of Fairfield.

Also surviving are four brothers, Everett and Robert of Fairfield, William of Wentzville, Mo., and Donald of Bowling Green, Mo., and seven sisters, Dorothy Haynes and Iola Manning of Mount Pleasant, Mary Davis of Moline, Ill., Doris Norris and Florence Cornelius of Fairfield, Mabel Johnson of Liberal, Kans., Patty Dillon of San Diego, Calif.

The body is at Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds.

Funeral services were held Wednesday August 18, 1971, at 1:30 P.M. at the Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds, with the Rev. Robert Bowers of the Zion Bible Church officiating. Pall bearers were Roger Heston, Roger Farmer, Robert McCarty, Wallace Benge, Ronald Benge, and Harley Shipley. Interment was in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery, with military rites by John Hyson Reneker Post No. 494, American Legion, Douds.
