Willis I. Davis

Funeral services for Mr. Willis I. Davis age 69 of Hillsboro, were held Tuesday July 27, 1971 2 p.m. from the Big Cedar Christian Church, east of Stockport. The Rev. Chester C. Werft was the officiating clergyman, with music by Mrs. John Hoffer, pianist and Mrs. Forest Fuhrer, soloist.

The casket escorts were Clifford Martin, Wayne Brown, Jay Harper, Gordon Gilbert, Glen Brombaugh, and Ronnie Haper.

The honarary escorts were Dale Eyler, Harold Byers, Cleo Watson, and Warren Veatch.

Interment was in the Hillsboro Cemetery, with arrangements by the Beatty-Jennings Chapel of Salem.

Mr. Davis was born Sept. 27, 1901 in Jefferson County, the son of R.M. and Lillian Ramey Davis. On Feb. 24, 1926 he was united in marriage to Ruby Watson of Ottumwa.

He was a retired carpenter and a member of the Christian Church at Abingdon, Iowa, and a member of the Hillsboro Fire Dept.

Surviving are his wife, 3 daughters Mrs. Betty Thornton of Mt. Pleasant, Mrs. David (Erma) Brombaugh, of Hillsboro and Mrs. Gerald (Norma) Manly of Fairfield, 8 grandchildren, 2 brothers and 2 sisters, Mrs. Nels Stephens and Mrs. O.A. DeGood both of Abingdon, Mr. H.O. Davis, Revere, Missouri and Mr. B.O. Davis, Irvington, Ia.
