Jess Hemm

BIRMINGHAM - Jess Hemm, 89, died Saturday afternoon at his farm home, southwest of Birmingham, after a lengthy illness.

He was born near Selma on Oct. 19, 1881, the son of Jess J. and Mary Jones Hemm. He married Jessie Eddy on April 13, 1935. She survives. He was a member of the Birmingham Free Methodist Church.

Also surviving are one son, Darrell of Birmingham; two grandchildren; three brothers, Clarence of Eldon, Charles of Buffalo, Mo., and Harry of Birmingham, one sister, Elva Davis of Bloomfield.

Two brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.

The service will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Free Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. J.P. Knepper and the Rev. Walter VanderLinden. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.

The body is at Burch Funeral Home.
