Thomas Ray Lewman

Thomas Ray Lewman, 80, of rural Keosauqua, died at 7 a.m. Sunday in Van Buren County Memorial Hospital in Keosauqua where he had been a patient for a day. He was a retired farmer.

The son of Francis and Amanda Allen Lewman, he was born April 2, 1891, in Columbus, Kansas. On Aug. 14, 1922 he married Mabel Alice Nott in Ottumwa.

He was a veteran of World War I, and a member of American Legion Post 113 in Keosauqua.

Survivors are his widow: six children, Ruby Wagner of Fairfield, Virginia Miller of Des Moines, Thomas C. Lewman, Rex Lewman and Betty McCarty of Douds, Mary Paggart of Miami, Fla.; two step-children, Pauline Bruders of Kansas City, Kans., Ernest Beverlyn of Ottumwa; 42 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

The body was taken to the Catcott Funeral Home at Keosauqua, where funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Tuesday. The Rev. (Willard) Marshall officiated, (with) burial in the Pittsburg Cemetery.
