John Leslie Aylward

John Leslie Aylward was born in Scotland County, Missouri, on December 21, 1894, the son of Francis Marion and Cannarissa Ellen Aylward and departed this life August 11, 1977, at Scotland County Memorial Hospital, after several months of failing health at the age of 82 years, seven months and 20 days.

He was a veteran of World War I, having served in the Army.

He became a member of the Mt. Moriah Methodist Church in 1924 and later transferred his membership to the Arbela Methodist Church.

He was married to Lena Smith on November 23, 1927. To this union one son was born, Marion Aylward.

On June 23, 1963, he was married to Clarice Curry.

He is survived by his wife, Clarice, his son and daughter-in-law, Marion and Joanne, Aylward, two grandchildren, Michael and Ellen Aylward, one brother, Jesse and two sisters, Mrs. Irma Enness and Mrs. Pearl Shelley, all of Memphis, Missouri, several nieces and nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, two brothers, and three half-sisters.

Funeral services were conducted by D.W. Payne & Sons from Memphis Methodist Church, at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 13, 1977, with the Rev. Neil Dubach officiating. Pallbearers were Marion Miller, Hillis Curry, Calvin Kraus, Eldon Dice, Lee Aylward, and Cecil Lunsford. Organist was Mrs. Ann Luther. Soloist was Kenneth Campbell. Interment was in the Memphis Cemetery, Memphis, Missouri.
